I was born in York County (Richmond Hill) December 4, 1940, and I am the youngest of eight boys. Raised on Amherst Island, some of my brothers and I would listen to WWVA in Wheeling West Virginia on my Dad's battery radio. Guess that's when I got hooked on Country Music.
At fifteen years old, I borrowed my brother's guitar, and now am a self-taught Flat Picker.
I have played at funerals, wedding receptions, community Barn Dances, birthday parties, kitchen parties, cottages, cafe's, and Seniors Homes.
I have played with many different Bands through the years. I am a member of The Old Tyme Fiddlers, and enjoy the music and friendship of them all. I promoted music on Heritage Days at schools showing children older song books, instruments and songs.
I had the pleasure of playing at The Hank Snow Memorial Jamboree in 2012, in Nova Scotia and received a standing ovation.
On April 1st of 2006, Amherst Island Radio went on the Air, and I was asked to do a Radio program. I called it The Wolf's Den, and in July of that year, I had my first live entertainer in our Studio, and it has been very popular ever since. I have promoted mostly local entertainers and some from across Canada, but have had some from USA, Australia, Ireland and England as well. I have had approximately 750 entertainers in our studio in the past twelve and a half years.
The Radio Station is strictly run by volunteers, and I have volunteered now for twelve and a half years, promoting local entertainers and Country and Bluegrass Music. We go to the Radio Station every Wednesday, and we are on the air for a total of four hours. My wife and I have managed two Open Mic Jam Sessions for a total of seven years, also promoting local entertainers, and music.
Thank You, and God Bless.
