Jimmy Ellis – Posthumous

Jimmy was born in Welland and moved with his parents to Marmora at age 10.  His father an avid fiddle player started Jimmy on his musical odyssey. However, Jimmy's journey started as a rock n’ roller with a band named the Dain City Rockers but soon turned to classic country with Keith Tompkins and the Cedar Valley Boys.

After Keith's retirement Jimmy and his grandsons re-started the Cedar Valley Boys. Jimmy went on to perform with Jack McCann’s Western Hayriders and then to Charlie Mayo’s C&W Starliters. After a brief hiatus, Boyd Warren came calling and Jim was once more playing with Brimstone. Jimmy was extremely proud that he played with the iconic Ellie Kelly on her last recording. Jimmy also played for 10 years with Lorne Buck as the Backwoodsmen.

Jimmy performed at Huntsville at the CCMA Awards, at the Havelock Jamboree and the Trent Valley Jamboree Series, both 1 and 2, plus numerous Hootenanny’s and he toured in the USA and Canada. He finalized his career playing with Glen and Leona Foster as " Old and In the Way”. Little Jimmy resided for many years in Springbrook with his lifelong partner, Helen. Little Jimmy passed away in the Autumn of 2018.
